Universal Design

What's Your Point of View?

David Spoey flew to Earth on a overnight trip. His home planet of Sobjecta frustrated him with its bland uniformity. Sobjectans were extropic transhumans who had vacated Earth in order to terraform a utopic scientific society in a faraway galaxy. Sobjectans lacked emotions, being completely logical and objective creatures, their one objective being the pursuit of lively intelligence. Sure their politics were a breeze. Sure their society provided all things. Sure they had long conquered death, hate, waste, and fear. But in their eternal goodness, they had lost most of their panache, and all of their rawness.

Earth was known throughout the universe as a harbor of romantic drama, of epic battles between good and evil- basically the best planetary reality show in the universal organism. You probably wouldn't get out alive, but time spent there was quite intensely fulfilling.

Landing softly in a NBC boardroom, David told a group of startled executives to remember to brush their teeth. David had seen the ravages of tooth decay in his Sobjectan denistry practice.

Walking down the street, David Spoey encountered the first bodhisattava (a benevolent human full of love). Noticing first her petite shoulders, wrapped with a white shawl and topped by a pair of piercing green eyes surrounded by shiny blonde hair. Her bosom leaked from the top of her shawl to present a valley of desire. Feeling David's stare, Melinda Tuttle introduced herself as a wave of light sensation swept her eyes into a crystalline gaze.
She said, "Describe the essence of the universe in one sentence."
David said, "An infinite cyclical capacity for change expressed in structured fluid mechanics."
Melinda ventured behind her eyes seeing a Mobius strip consisting of a spiral staircase painted black, spinning around to produce the barbar shop candy cane allusion.
David Spoey grokked her vision, "You are quite right, but limited. Your idea is part of the whole, but it is the essence of the universe, but it is not. Black is the absence of light and white is the presence of all visible light energy. If you have a dream within a dream, then which dream is more real? If you take a picture of yourself in a mirror, where does the reflexitivity stop?"

"You love the paradoxes dontcha Plato! Okay Mr. DoubleSpeak, but I'm an architectural student and I pictured what you described. How can something be essential and not essential at the same time? Put it in my terms."
Pondered for a second and responded, "Just as you design a complex building on different levels, the universe continuously designs itself anew on infinite scales."
Melinda struggled to accept this metaphysical assertion as David pressed on, unaware of his extremely rapid pace."

"The scale of organization ranges from the metagalaxial to quarks composing protons and neutrons and atoms. A brick in a building seems completely frozen into place, but the brick is really a pulsing quantum organism of self-organizing matter. Similarly, when you see a building, your brain is using its memory and senses to create the image of a building. Sobjectively, the building is an organization of pulsing quantum organisms. It is connected to yourself by photons, gravity, electromagnetic force- and most importantly by your consciousness. You see, the building ceases to exist without your point of view- by conceptualizing the building, your call into existence a form in your head which is connected to the physical building only by the patterns networking in your head.

Some would call this solipsism, but I call it realism. Your qualic image of the hylic world is only possible with your consciousness. The qualic building consists is an emergent property of massive neural architecture and microfluidic paraserial design. Of course there is a reality, but it is different for everyone, because consciousness is transformation. By becoming aware of an event, you transform the event. Once humans gained language and mnemetic abilities, their spirit allowed them to image the entire universe in their mind, and to envision it by warping light waves. Once we became aware of the universe's history, a pneumatic echo unleashed itself upon the emergent humanity.

And there you see how the cyclical 3.7 billion year design process employed by nature is quite slow, but efficient in convincing your brain of reality's existence and your significance- this is what sets you apart from animals, who have no awareness of reality, they know only senses and basic emotional reactions. They have no conceptual mindspace to ponder the universal essence. They have no symbolic language with which to converse, from which to build and transmit cultural knowledge.

Humans, as spiritual conscious beings, are able to remove themselves from reality- humans possess free will. Thus the ingenious design of your neural structure, produced through 3.7 billion years of experience, has designed an inherent immaterial consciousness emerging from the genetic code. Water flows down. Gravity attracts. And a human thinks. In fact, a human's mind is the design of his universe, which in turn is his mind. These reflexive paradoxical truths underscore the nature of being here."

Wow, is he done talking? I feel like Socrates and Salvador Dali had a child and fed him intellectual speed. She dropped her attention, and Melinda's mind wandered to drunken memories of Real World flirtations and booty shakes. It is surely nice to be blonde- I wonder what David thinks of my appearance, he seems so attentive to detail, I knew I should have waxed my face today! I better giggle sweetly while I give him the Come Get ME look.

Attention. "Let me get this straight. Everything and nothing are paradoxically the essence of the universe. The universe knows no wrong nor right, yet the purpose of the universe is infinite loving intelligence."
David was surprised at the success of his information transmission, and asked her silently if she would accompany him on his travels.

Melinda looked astonished, then resolute, then worried. She said, "I have a feeling you have some things to teach me, David. I would quit my job and travel with you, but I am not a rich woman- I am a poor architectural student trying to climb the corporate ladder."

David removed his currency printer from his pocket, "Oh, don't worry about that! The Federal Reserve gave me this handy device in return for past favors (on condition of secrecy). From what I hear, this is one of many such devices. I guess you haven't learned money has become a tool of economic repression, as it is hoarded on computers for war and profit instead of being applied toward humanity's issues."
"You can print United States Cash!?"
"You are a quick one!"
"Where do I sign up?"
"Well, the committment is non-binding, but you could certainly prove your committment to the team...by giving me a back scratch."
Ten minutes later, a raw-backed David printed 10 green bills worth $1000 and put them in Melinda's back pocket, prompting a single seed of desire thrust into his continual chatter of consciousness. That single touch germinated eons of sexual dormancy and resonated with forgotten sexual archetypes of powerful domination and pleasurable submission.
Curiously, David's content covalent companion had awakened in him a previously unknown mind-state, the impulse. Being immortal reduces impulses to a dull fade of unimportance. Every action is the reflection of past actions and experience. Yet somehow, this green planet of lustful attraction had cracked his shield of patience, and with the urgency of a soldier's last letter David pulled Melinda to a pulsing quantum orgasmic waterbed. Removing his illusional clothes he wished her naked and ensconced her in passionate embrace.
"I understand Earthly organisms. Their societal glue is sexual attraction- the urge to physically merge universes through mindful relations." When the Sobjectan viewers heard this through his hyperspatial consciousness projector, their minds were set afire with this sexual desire, and spared neither plants nor robots in their striving for sexual fulfillment. At their local Seventy Forty Six, KY jelly sold out.
Ending the eternal embrace, David dressed them both and removed a 3D holographic viewing map from his pocket with blinking destinations.
"Follow me, Melinda, muliebritous muse of my existence!"
Melinda smiled as two agitated policeman approached them, Shock Round guns pointed at them.
"Put your hands in the sky!"
